Jessica Fritter, DHSc, MACPR, ACRP-CP has been named the Clinical Research Professionals co-director of Workforce Development

The Ohio State University Clinical Translational Science Institute is pleased to announce Jessica Fritter, DHSc, MACPR, ACRP-CP has been named the Clinical Research Professionals co-director of Workforce Development.

Dr. Fritter serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Ohio State College of Nursing, where she is the director of the Master of Clinical Research, Clinical Research Management Graduate Certificate and Clinical Trials Sciences Undergraduate Certificate programs. In these roles, she designs and teaches foundational courses that are essential to clinical research education.

Dr. Fritter received her Doctor of Health Sciences degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and her Master of Applied Clinical and Preclinical Research degree from The Ohio State University. She is also a certified clinical research professional, having obtained her Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Certified Professional Certification.

As a nationally recognized leader in clinical research workforce development, Dr. Fritter directs both local and national initiatives that enhance education, training and professional identity within the field. Her work includes collaborations across Clinical Translational Science Award institutions and with Columbus State Community College to expand clinical research education through micro-learning and summer camps. She co-founded the Next STEPP Clinical Research Summer Camp, a week-long program designed to introduce high school students to the fundamentals of clinical research. The camp has been highly successful in engaging new audiences and demonstrating the viability of clinical research as a rewarding career path.

Dr. Fritter’s national leadership includes serving in working groups within the Association of Clinical and Translational Science Clinical Research Professional Special Interest Group (SIG), where she focuses on team science and workforce retention. She currently serves as vice president for the Consortium of Academic Programs in Clinical Research (CoAPCR), is a board member for the International Association of Graduate Regulatory Educators (AGRE) and is the former chapter president for the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Ohio Chapter. 

As principal investigator, Dr. Fritter leads a national study on the impact of academic training on certification outcomes and has mentored numerous professionals, supporting the next generation of clinical research leaders. Her research and professional focus centers on clinical research workforce development, team science and implementation science. Dr. Fritter has published over 20 publications on clinical research professional workforce development, clinical research operations and training and has been an invited presenter at many national conferences and seminars. She regularly presents to students and professionals, advocating for early pipeline development and impactfully contributing to national recognition of clinical research careers.
