Implementation Science Bootcamp
Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) science is the study of strategies that promote adoption, implementation, scale-up and sustainment of evidence-based interventions into routine practice. The goal of D&I science is to maximize and equalize the benefits of effective interventions for public health and well-being. This workshop expands on publicly available training courses to deepen investigators’ understanding of D&I research questions, concepts, designs and methodological considerations so they can move toward incorporation of D&I science in their own research portfolios.

Jane E. Heminger Hall, Auditorium
Purpose:
This accelerated introductory workshop will convene an interdisciplinary cohort of investigators who are interested in learning more about D&I science. By the end of this introductory program, participants will be more familiar with the language and concepts of implementation science, how to build these concepts and methods into a scientific proposal and how to evaluate implementation outcomes to improve health care quality.
By providing introductory training and support, we expect to improve investigators’ knowledge of implementation science and build connections among scholars interested in D&I science. This workshop is also expected to help expand the number of investigators who are engaged in D&I science in the future (e.g., submitting and receiving research funding, and publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts in the field).
Target Participants:
Participation is open to faculty at any rank, research staff and post-doctoral trainees who are new to implementation science. The workshop is open to investigators in a broad range of health and human services fields. Experience leading or contributing to a research study is required (e.g., role as a Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, Key Personnel). Basic knowledge of research design and methods is also required. Priority will be given to those with doctoral degrees (e.g., MD, PhD).
Format and Duration:
This accelerated introductory training will take place in person and virtually (see below), on three half-days over the course of three weeks:
- Wednesday, May 21, noon - 4 p.m., In-Person
- Wednesday, May 28, noon - 4 p.m., Virtual
- Wednesday, June 4, noon - 4 p.m., In-Person
Expectations:
Participants will be expected to complete a small number (1-3) of pre-selected readings independently before the program which will be shared via email. **The expectation is that participants attend all three sessions. In-person sessions will take at Jane E. Heminger Hall, College of Nursing on The Ohio State University, Columbus campus.
